Let's face it: workouts can get boring... really boring. That's especially true if you do basically the same exercises and routines nearly every day (like 90% of us do).
Not only that, but your body will quickly adapt to the exercises, resistance levels, workouts, movements, etc you do on a regular basis. This will lead to plateaus, fewer "gains," and more fitness stagnation.
But with a little bit of creativity you can bring the fun back to your workout. You can challenge your body, get better results, and make yourself look forward to going to the gym again.
One of the best methods is to use simple pieces of exercise equipment in new ways. Dumbbells, kettlebells, ropes, heavy tires, and even sledgehammers are all great examples of low-tech items that can be used in an infinite variety of ways.
Here's a great example:
All that's required is a floor, a relatively small kettlebell (although almost any type of weight will work), and a length of rope (in this case a heavy duty "Battle Rope" was used but any relatively thick/strong rope will work). It's a very simple, fun, and extremely effective full body "functional strength" workout you can do almost anywhere!
