Insanity Asylum Reviews (LMFAO)

So apparently there's a new Beachbody product coming out soon called Insanity Asylum from exercise guru Shaun T and infomercial masters Beachbody. We guess it's something like the original Insanity workout... but even more insane!!!

:)

The workout -- which may very well be incredibly effective -- is based around the kind of high-intensity, bodyweight training many athletes do. It promises to help improve your speed, agility, power, and coordination... all while burning off your ugly belly fat and giving the lean, fit, sexy body we all want.

Even though this product has yet to even be released (no, we don't know the release date or the price) people are already asking for reviews. Since it's extremely difficult to review a product that isn't actually available to purchase yet, we can't help in that area yet. Sorry!

But here's the question that bugs me personally: why are people so incredibly geeked-up about Insanity Asylum?? Yes, I know Beachbody does an amazing job of marketing their products, but come on! We know that, no matter what, this is basically another high-intensity, bodyweight-calisthenics-based workout. Much like almost every other Beachbody program out there. We are fans of bodyweight-based workouts -- because they provide maximum fat-burning/muscle-building benefit with little risk -- but what makes so many people think the Asylum program is so unique and special?

If you think Insanity Asylum is going to magically give you 6% body fat, humongous pectoral muscles, a V-shaped torso, a perfect butt, a 4.7-second 40-yard dash time, and a fitness model's body you're in for a big disappointment. Those things only come with a LOT of serious focus, dedication, and (tons of) hard work... no matter what type of exercise routine you're following!

Some of the messages and review requests we've received for Insanity Asylum sound truly insane. Some people, apparently, are absolutely depending on it to get them into shape for summer 2011. As in, they're not going to begin doing "real" exercise until they can get their hands on the new Insanity DVD set. Here's one  email we recently received:
"Hey I heard about the new workout from the Beach Body people called Insanity Asylum and I want to know more about it. I need to lose about 25 pounds before summer and I want to know if I should buy this product. I've been holding off joining a gym or working out alot because I want to give the new Insanity program a try. I want to be fresh and give it 100% effort. I really think it might be the best workout of them all. Please give me your reviews and opinions of the product. Thanks!" -- Raj K
Wow. That sounds incredibly dumb silly!

Please... if you want to lose weight, build muscle, and get into shape fast DON'T wait around for some "miracle" product -- whether it's a home workout system, a new piece of exercise equipment, or one of the "magic" diet pills currently on the market. No workout video, exercise machine, or fat loss pill is going to give you what you want all by itself. It starts with dedicating yourself and just getting to work.

And, believe it or not, you don't need to spend lots of money to get into great shape -- despite what the marketers would have you believe. Just put on some old sweats and sneakers and head to the local park. Do a few rounds of pushups, squats, pullups, and windsprints. Keep the rest periods short and focus on your form and intensity levels. Eat a clean diet based around quality proteins, good carbs, and healthy fats.

I promise you'll get at least 90% of the benefits of the Asylum workout, P90X, Brazil Butt Lift, Zumba, or any other "hot" exercise program on the market. And you won't have to wait (or spend any money) at all!

Insanity Asylum is not just a noral High Intensity Workout... before talking crap about anything do some research first.

What most people get excited about Asylum is that it's Sports Training with equipment and it has Strength Training, and not normal "gym-style" training, but Elite Athlete's training and it is like Insanity with NO BREAKS.

To "Anonymous Idiot": I didn't talk crap about the product. I talked about how ridiculous it is that people get so excited about Insanity Asylum or ANY "hot" new workout program, to the point of believing it's the solution to all their problems. From your promotional-sounding comment you obviously either drank the marketing Kool-Aid or you work for Beachbody!

Why make fun of people who get excited about a fitness program, period? What if they find that one thing that will finally get them excited any moving? There is totally nothing wrong with that.
Getting excited about fitness in ANY form is a good thing, because people need to be exercising, and how they choose to do it is up to them and we shouldn't be down talking people for their choices in fitness.
Last time I checked, calling people "ridiculous" isn't a good way to get them motivated to your own point of view.

I agree with you. It's a lot of hype but if anyone buys it, hopefully they are already in shape. These are massive, killer workouts. I also think the before and after pictures beachbod puts out are way skewed. But, on the other hand, if someone wants to robotically follow what to do without thinking much, this is a good deal. I liked Insanity and still do it at least once a week with everything else. And sometimes I just want to follow along to something. I aslo am concerned about the weird equipment, i.e. that ladder thingy.

HA! I agree totally! Two of my friends can't stop talking about this "Insanity Asylum" stuff. At first I thought they were talking about a new video game because that's what usually gets them excited. Then I saw the hilarious infomercial and I couldn't stop laughing. What a bunch of CRAP! But I know this kind of goofy commercial appeals to people like my 2 buddies: lazy, overweight, video game junkies who will NEVER stick to a workout plan that actually requires self-discipline. I stay in great shape just by playing basketball a few times a week. Here's an idea people: save your money and just buy a $15 basketball. You'll burn off all the fat you want and get a tan too!!

First of all, insanity is not for beginners!!!! even when purchased it, it even tells you... playing basketball is easy... but personally I Jog 6 miles a day and at first I thought I could handle it !!!! BUT I WAS WRONG... it is extremely hard my leg muscle was in pain , pain,I could not even walk. it work muscle i never worked . After 60 days I SURPASS MY GOALS!!! I was able to jog and sprint for 12 miles and sill have energy !!! it awesome , I recommend it for the strong minded.

People get excited just because they need excitement to exercise.
They don't have the motivation to exercise alone - and neither do I.

I agree that Beachbody products aren't, technically, better than your exercises, but are good enough and make you committed to work.

Having new workout programs is a good way to introduce variations in your exercises and keep your brain focused on training and on track.

I don't have friends who work out with me but hearing Shaun T or Tony Horton or Brett Hoebel and watching the success stories I was able to push play for the last year.
Yeah, I know it's stupid, but it's how our damn brain works - and using advertisement to exercise 6 days a week is a good use of it.

Before trying them I wasn't able to exercise regularly.

@TommyBoy: Some years ago I was playing basketball too 4 times a week for 1-2 hours each (I did it nearly every week for 5 years).

I wasn't fat (I've never been fat) but I wasn't ripped.
I highly doubt you could get good results just by playing basketball, Insanity, for example, targets A LOT more muscles than basketball.

Only a lot of different exercises are as good as Insanity at targeting muscles (and swimming, or any other sport which completely use your body).
Basketball is not one of them.

Oh, and linking videogames with Insanity is incredibly stupid.
Yes, a lot of fat people try Insanity to lose fat (but I don't think they can really stick with it, Insanity helps you only if you cant stick with it the whole time imho), but it's a really good pack of exercise.

A P90X, P90X+, Insanity Grad.

Hey "Anonymous"... learn to spell and then we'll talk.... ;)

If you haven't used the program why are you bashing it? I used the P90X last year and lost about 20 pounds on it (and paid only 20 bucks for a pirated copy of it, 1 dollar per pound, WOOHOO!!).

How do you know this new program isn't just as good??

Jack Q said...

Where in this post do I "bash" the Insanity Asylum product? What I'm "bashing" is some people's expectations that this or ANY workout routine is a magical solution to all their weight and fitness problems. Please help me understand Anonymous. Thank you!!

P.S. The fact that I call it a high-intensity bodyweight calisthenics workout is definitely NOT an insult. If you follow this blog at all you know that we think intense, bodyweight exercise-based workouts are the BEST for fat loss, muscle building, and overall fitness!

I am sure with a good diet and hard work people would reap great rewards.

Shaun T stated that people should complete insanity before Asylum, so the poeple doing Asylum know what they are in for and although someone would not lose 25 pounds they would see results that would then keep them going till there at there ideal body weight.

This workout is for people who are ready for a challenge and not for a beginner. The hype of it is justified and I have to say I am a sucker for it. I can't wait till mine comes in the mail.

It's not about the video or getting ripped or any of that. It's about commitment. I've been a hockey player for my whole life and always been in shape, ive always worked out and kept myself as strong as I can be. These P90X and insanity videos are for people who don't want to waste money on a gym membership and want to be able to workout in their own home. In currently in the last phase of P90X and insanty asylum is currently in the mail. The draw of insanity asylum is the sports training. It focuses on endurance and strength based on sports performance. The
Point is, these videos in my opinion are better then gym membership because of the programs involved. They have a beginning and an end, a professional trainer telling you what good form is/isn't, a time limit and a schedule. If your going to dog is you'll dog it just as much in a gym.

If you have read any reviews about people expecting Asylum to bring a body makeover and change their lives, then it is most likely they did not do Insanity first. Even before you attempt Insanity, you should be very fit and capable. The Asylum are for those that have completed Insanity at least or have done some sort of training and are in good shape. I am excited only because I have already completed 2 rounds of Insanity and P90X and I want to take it to yet another level. This is totally a mental challenge for myself and I can't expect anyone that hasn't completed Insanity to understand that. It takes time and hard work to get in the best shape of your live, certainly 30 days of any program is not going to do that, but it can get you in the door.
